Police Confirm Chikakore Kidnap, Launch Investigations – Spokesperson

The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, police spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, has confirmed the chilling kidnap incident Chikakore community, outskirts of Abujaon Monday and provided further details. “Preliminary investigations revealed that the attackers disguised themselves as vigilante members and tricked the victims into letting them in. They then abducted four individuals and left a neighbour injured, Adeh stated.”

Adeh added that police operatives responded promptly to a distress call and have since launched an investigation into the incident.

Chikakore, a quiet community in the FCT, was thrown into disarray in the early hours of Monday after armed kidnappers stormed the area, abducting four members of a family and injuring a neighbour.

According to eyewitness accounts, the assailants, numbering about seven, disguised themselves as vigilantes to gain access to the residence of Mr. Adefija Michael Akinropo. The attackers, armed with machetes and sticks, deceived the family into opening their gate before forcibly taking Mr. Akinropo, his wife, son, and elder brother.

A neighbour, who attempted to intervene, was reportedly injured in the altercation and rushed to Kubwa General Hospital for treatment.

“The attack happened at about 1:00 am,” a security official, who chose to remain anonymous, told our correspondent. “The abductors came well-prepared and executed their plan swiftly. Police officials from Byazin have visited the scene, but as of now, there has been no contact from the kidnappers.”

The attack has left residents of Chikakore on edge, with many expressing concern over the growing insecurity in the area. One community member, who spoke anonymously, said, “We are living in fear. How can people pretending to protect us turn out to be attackers? This is a wake-up call for better security measures in our community.”

At of press time, the kidnappers had not reached out to the family or law enforcement. Local residents are calling on security agencies to ramp up their efforts to protect their community and facilitate the safe return of those who were abducted.
