Customs Boss Emphasizes Transformative Initiatives for Reform, Enforcement on International Customs Day

Comptrollers General of Nigeria Customs Service NCS, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi has highlighted the importance of transformative initiatives of the Service, saying they will revolutionize trade facilitation and enforcement. The customs chief said this in his remarks to commemorate the 2025 International Customs Day observed aannually on January 26.

In the remarks themed, “Customs Delivering on its Commitment to Efficiency, Security, and Prosperity,” Adeniyi noted that occasion was significant, adding that it provides a vital platform to evaluate the NCS achievements of the preceding year, reinforce its commitments, and strategically position for the evolving demands of customs administration across nations.

He pointed out that the nationwide trade modernization deployment, comprehensive AEO program implementation,enhanced technology-driven risk management, and the groundbreaking

establishment of the Nigeria Customs Service University for Trade andTechnology will serve as additional key performance indicators as the NSC evaluates its achievements at the end of the year.

He noted that the NSC strategic vision aligns President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s policy direction

and global customs best practices.

While assuring that the Customs will continue to rely on the unwavering support of President Tinubu, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Olawale Edun, officer, stakeholders, and international partners to achieve and surpass our performance targets, Adeniyi renewed the pledge to excellence in customs administration and efficient service delivery.
