FCT Minister Pledges N89b Investment in Bwari Infrastructure, Education

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has highlighted the government’s dedication to improving the Bwari Area Council through substantial investments exceeding N89 billion in infrastructure and education.

In a speech during the inauguration of the newly built 5km Gaba-Tokulo road in Bwari on Friday, Wike revealed that the rehabilitation of the Dutse-Bwari road cost N27 billion. He called the completion of the Gaba-Tokulo road, which was developed at a cost of N7 billion, an important advancement in enhancing connectivity and accessibility in the area.

Wike stated, “The Gaba-Tokulo road has cost us at least N7 billion. Rehabilitation of the road from Dutse to this area in Bwari has totaled around N27 billion. When we include the Ushafa, War College, and other road projects, our total investment in road infrastructure in the Bwari Area Council amounts to roughly N62.2 billion.”

He emphasized the considerable funding directed towards education, pointing out the renovation and construction of multiple secondary schools such as Government Secondary Schools in Dutse, Bwari, Ushafa, Deidei, Kubwa, and Jibi. “The total expenditure on these schools has been no less than N27 billion,” Wike remarked. “When this amount is added to our road projects, the total investment in the Bwari Area Council approaches N100 billion.”

The Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to fulfilling its commitments outlined in President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. “This is not merely a promise; it is a reality,” he stated.

In an effort to bolster regional security, Wike revealed plans to create two additional police divisions in Igou and Ushafa, with a completion date aimed for May 2025. He emphasized, “Security is a priority, and we are committed to making our communities safer.

Responding to the appeal by Bwari Area Council Chairman, John Gabaya, for more road projects, Wike assured residents that the Tokulo-Kawu road would be prioritized. “The Tokulo-Kawu road is vital to our community, and we will ensure its construction,” he promised.
