Kano to Establish Disease Control Centre, Assembly Passes Bill

The Kano State House of Assembly has passed the Kano State Centre for Disease Control Bill 2023, marking a significant milestone in efforts to strengthen the state’s public health system.

The bill, which was passed following its third reading and extensive deliberations, seeks to establish a disease control centre in the state. It outlines key frameworks for public health surveillance, emergency response management, and the protection of healthcare workers during crises.

Speaking on the development, a member of the Assembly emphasized the importance of the legislation in addressing public health challenges, particularly in mitigating the impact of disease outbreaks.

In addition to the landmark bill, the Assembly considered several other pieces of legislation. These include the Kano State Signage and Advertisement Establishment Bill 2025, the Kano State Physical Planning and Development Control Bill 2025, and the Kano State Water Users Association Bill 2025. Each of these bills scaled their first readings during the session.

The passage of the Kano State Centre for Disease Control Bill 2023 highlights the Assembly’s commitment to enhancing healthcare infrastructure and ensuring the well-being of the state’s residents.
