The Court of Appeal in Akure, Ondo State, on Thursday upheld the death sentence judgment handed out to Rahmon Adedoyin, an industrialist, for his involvement in the killing of Timothy Adegoke, an Obafemi Awolowo MBA student.
The appellate court held on Thursday, that Adedoyin was properly convicted and sentenced to death by the lower court.
The judgment comes 16 months after Adedoyin filed an appeal, with the court reserving judgment on October 29, 2024.
Timothy Adegoke, a chartered accountant, was found dead in a shallow grave near Hilton Hotel and Resorts, owned by Adedoyin, in Ile-Ife, Osun State.
Adegoke had travelled to Ile-Ife to write his MBA exams and was declared missing after his friends and family lost contact with him. Investigations by the police revealed that Adedoyin was one of Adegoke’s four murderers. The industrialist’s conviction and sentencing to death by the lower court were upheld by the Court of Appeal.
