The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has arraigned Mrs. Aishatu Abdullahi, Director of Administration and Supplies at the National Boundary Commission, and Mrs. Ghaji Rahila, an Assistant Chief Accountant, on charges of forgery and abuse of office.
According to a statement sent to Africa Health Report (AHR) on Wednesday by the Spokesperson for the Commission, Demola Bakare, the duo appeared before Justice Yusuf Halilu at the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja, on Tuesday.
They were accused of conspiring to allow Rahila participate in a senior staff promotion exercise and confirm her promotion to Chief Accountant (Level 14) at the National Boundary Commission while simultaneously employed by Galaxy Backbone Limited.
The ICPC also alleged that Rahila forged an admission letter from Carnegie Mellon University, Rwanda, purportedly addressed to her husband, to support her application for leave of absence which they both pleaded “not guilty”.
Justice Halilu granted bail with stringent conditions, including the provision of two sureties who must be Abuja-based directors in federal parastatals and the surrender of the defendant’s travel documents as the case was adjourned to March 17, 2025, for the commencement of trial.
