HAPPENING NOW: Unspecified Number Feared Dead as Student Detonates Bomb in Abuja School

Unspecified number of students are reportedly feared dead when a bomb exploded at a school located in an outskirt of Abuja on Monday.

A student was confirmed killed while about four others were injured in the incident that was caused by a suspected suicide bomber.

It was learnt that injured victims were taken to a hospital.

According to Premium Times reports, a security source said the incident happened around noon at an Islamiyyah school in the Kuchibiyu Community of Bwari Area Council, about 42 kilometres from the Abuja city centre.

It was also gathered that emergency and security personnel, including the police bomb disposal squad, arrived at the scene of the explosion.

As of press time the number of deaths could not be ascertained as the police have not yet to release official statements about the incident, making the details of the explosion remain unclear.

But it was gathered that the dead student, whose identity is yet to be disclosed, bore the substance suspected to be IED while it exploded and injured the other students, thereby causing pandemonium in the centre.

Authorities at the school could not be reached at this time.

According to another report, “the students involved were recently admitted into the school and that they resumed on 3rd January 2025.”
