The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended two brothers, Taiwo and Kehinde Yemitan who are twins, for allegedly killing and dismembering a sex worker, Darasimi, in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

According to SP Omolola Odutola, the Ogun State Police spokesperson, the suspects lured Darasimi to their home, where she was killed and dismembered for ritual purposes.

Kehinde was arrested while hiding in the Ilogbo area of Ota, after his brother Taiwo had already been taken into custody.

Odutola revealed that the police surveillance team, in collaboration with the So Safe Corps, had been tracking Kehinde since he was identified as an accomplice to the crime. “He admitted to conspiring with others to carry out the crime in Abeokuta,” Odutola said.

The suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, for further investigation.

Odutola cautioned young women to be more careful and avoid engaging in “hookups” and other indecent activities that could make them vulnerable to ritual killings and other crimes.

She also urged parents and guardians to join forces with the police in raising awareness about the dangers of prostitution.

“A further appeal goes to the teeming young females to see this unfortunate incident as a big lesson and be cautious not to fall victim to another ritual killing,” Odutola said.

The police spokesperson’s warning comes amid growing concerns about ritual killings and violence against women in the state.
