Ondo Road Crash Claims 13 Lives

A devastating road crash has claimed the lives of 13 commuters in Ondo State, leaving one person seriously injured.

The accident occurred on Saturday morning around 10 o’clock at Abule Paanu, before the Ose bridge along the Owo/Ikare-Akoko Highway.

Eyewitnesses revealed that the crash involved two buses, resulting in a fire that burned 13 people beyond recognition.

According to the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ondo State, Samuel Ibitoye, the accident was caused by a burst tire on one of the buses, which led to a loss of control and a head-on collision with another bus.

Ibitoye confirmed that the FRSC, police, and Fire Service rushed to the scene to rescue the victims. The injured victim was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Owo for medical attention.

The remains of the deceased have been deposited at the hospital’s mortuary.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the need for improved road safety measures.

The FRSC has urged drivers to exercise caution and ensure their vehicles are in good condition to prevent such tragedies. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
