Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled for prostate removal surgery on Sunday, his office announced.
The procedure follows a recent diagnosis of a urinary tract infection linked to a benign prostate enlargement.
Netanyahu, 75, was examined at Hadassah Hospital on Wednesday, where doctors identified the issue.
A statement from the Prime Minister’s office confirmed that “the prime minister will undergo prostate removal surgery tomorrow.”
This medical intervention comes after a series of health challenges for Netanyahu.
Earlier this year, he underwent hernia surgery, and in July 2023, a pacemaker was implanted following a serious medical scare.
Despite these health concerns, Netanyahu remains at the helm of Israel’s leadership as the country continues its war with Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
The conflict, which escalated after the October 7th attack by Hamas militants, is now in its 15th month.
The prime minister’s surgery is set to take place while the nation remains deeply engaged in a critical military operation, with Israeli forces focusing on securing the country after the unprecedented attack.
