To address the issue of counterfeit drinks in Nigeria, Quilox, a popular nightclub in Lagos, has initiated a campaign to raise awareness about the risks associated with fake beverages.
During a media event in Lagos, Akinlabi Peller, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Quilox, stressed the club’s steadfast dedication to maintaining quality and safety.
He announced that the club has formed a strategic alliance with the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) to strengthen efforts against fake beverages.
Peller emphasized Quilox’s commitment to customer safety by implementing rigorous quality assurance measures. “We have always been honest in our operations. Quilox employs scanners to check the barcodes on beverages, guaranteeing their authenticity for our clients. We consistently strive to offer only the highest quality,” he remarked.
Reinforcing this commitment, Deputy COO Mr. Olushola Farinloye outlined the club’s careful supply chain procedures. “We source beverages directly from the brand manufacturers, rather than the open market. Our auditing team verifies serial numbers as recommended by NAFDAC. We also conduct thorough investigations into any complaints,” Farinloye stated.
The campaign, launched alongside the club’s 11th anniversary celebrations, highlights the necessity for more rigorous industry standards to combat the spread of counterfeit beverages. Quilox’s yearly 36-hour continuous party, showcasing prominent artists, provides the setting for this vital initiative.
Representing NAFDAC, Lagos State Assistant Director Mr. Olakunle Ojo applauded Quilox’s efforts and called for greater collaboration among hospitality stakeholders. “This is a significant step in curbing counterfeit drinks. We urge other clubs to join us in this endless war against fake products,” Ojo remarked.
Quilox’s campaign not only highlights the dangers of counterfeit drinks but also sets a precedent for industry standards, reinforcing its reputation as a trailblazer in safety and quality assurance.
