NIN is Free, MIMC Fumes at Officials Extorting Applicants

…security ordered to track staff extorting applicants

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has reiterated that enrolment for the National Identification Number (NIN) is free.

It added that the Commission does not charge nor authorise any Staff or its Front End Partners (FEP) to charge applicants for the NIN enrolment.

In a press release on Friday, signed by the head, Corporate Communications, Kayode Adegoke, PhD,

the Commission has directed security agencies to track any staff or FEPs caught extorting applicants for NIN enrolment.

“Anyone caught will be sanctioned appropriately in line with the provisions of the law, and the license of such FEP will be withdrawn”, the commission warns in the statement titled, NIMC RESTATES COMMITMENT TO ZERO TOLERANCE FOR EXTORTION.

Furthermore, the general public is advised to report any staff or FEP that demands money for enrolment through the following channels:
