The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to completing the N59.4 billion Greater Dutse Water Supply Project within the next two years.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Professor Joseph Utsev, during the flag-off ceremony held at Sintilmawa village in Ringim Local Government Area, Jigawa State.

Professor Utsev stated that the ambitious project, which will provide 10 million liters of water, is scheduled for completion within 24 months.

He highlighted the construction of a 10,000-meter concrete reservoir and housing quarters as part of the plan to deliver adequate and clean water to the residents of Dutse, the state capital.

Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa expressed his appreciation for the Federal Government’s strong commitment to fulfilling a promise made by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during his campaign visit to the late Emir of Dutse, Alhaji Nuhu Mohammadu Sanusi, in 2023.

Governor Namadi emphasized that the project would bring significant development to the state and, most importantly, put an end to the perennial water scarcity that has long plagued the residents of Dutse and surrounding areas.

The Emir of Dutse, Alhaji Hameem Nuhu Muhammadu Sanusi, also spoke at the ceremony, acknowledging the importance of the project for the community. He pledged the full support of the Emirate in ensuring its successful implementation. Reflecting on the late Emir Nuhu Muhammadu Sanusi’s vision, he expressed a heartfelt wish that his father had lived to see the realization of this long-term dream.

The Greater Dutse Water Supply Project, which was conceived 24 years ago, is now being actualized under the current administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The project underscores the government’s commitment to providing essential services and improving the quality of life for the people of Jigawa State.
