The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) on Thursday commissioned three new projects worth N866.7 million at the Cross River State College of Education in Akamkpa Local Government Area.
The projects, funded under the 2018 Special High Impact Intervention and the merged Years 2021-2023 Annual Intervention, are aimed at improving the institution’s infrastructure.
Executive Secretary of TETFund, Arc. Sonny Echono, highlighted the agency’s commitment to supporting public institutions. ,”We are greatly delighted and commend the college management for the satisfactory use of intervention funds,” Echono said during the commissioning.
The projects include the School of Education building (N345.7 million), the Department of Cultural and Creative Arts (N236.1 million), and the Department of Human Kinetics and Physical Education (N285 million).
Echono further reiterated the agency’s broader goals, noting that TETFund also supports training initiatives for staff to achieve higher degrees. “We ensure equity in fund distribution across the three tiers of beneficiaries, in line with the ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda,” he stated.
Governor Bassey Otu, represented by Commissioner of Education Dr. Stephen Odey, praised TETFund’s leadership and expressed his administration’s commitment to enhancing the state’s educational sector.
The Fund’s South-South representative, Aboh Uduyok, urged staff and students to maintain the new facilities, while College Provost Prof. Patrick Asuquo thanked TETFund and the state government for their support in advancing education.
