Ogun Customs Seizes Smuggled Goods Worth N229m

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Ogun I Command, has intercepted a massive haul of smuggled goods worth N229,112,424.

The seizures include 2,169 bags of foreign parboiled rice, 1,128 parcels of cannabis sativa, and other items such as used clothes, pneumatic tyres, and imported shoes.

According to the Acting Area Controller, Mohammed Salisu Shuaibu on Thursday, the seizures were made at strategic locations, including Idiroko, Ilaro, and other known smuggling hotspots.

Shuaibu stated, “Our operatives remain resolute in dismantling the smuggling networks that undermine our economy, endanger lives, and hinder local industries.”

The command also impounded 250 kegs of PMS, 20 units of vehicles used for conveyance, and a foreign used vehicle.

The seizures are a significant blow to smuggling activities in the region, and the customs service has vowed to continue its efforts to protect the economy and ensure national security.
