A bomb explosion in the early hours of yesterday has claimed the lives of two people and left six others injured in Niger State.

The explosions occurred in the Bassa and Tudun Baturiya communities, located in the Shiroro Local Government Area.

Africa Health Report, AHR’s investigation revealed that the victims were en route to their farms in Bassa community when the first explosion occurred.

One of the victims, Ahmed Al-Mustapha, who is a resident of Bassa, confirmed that three of the victims lost their legs in the blast and are currently receiving treatment at the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida Specialist Hospital in Minna.

Kuta revealed that another explosion occurred in Tudun Baturiya, just an hour after the first explosion, leaving one person dead and two others injured.

Kuta appealed to both the Federal and Niger State governments for urgent intervention to alleviate the suffering of the affected communities.

When contacted, the Niger State Commissioner for Homeland Security, General Mohammed Bello Abdullahi, confirmed the incidents.

He emphasized that the clearing of unexploded ordnance is critical to preventing such incidents in the future. He also assured that the victims are in stable condition and are receiving proper care at the IBB hospital.
