Ogun Govt Launches Massive Anthrax Vaccination Drive for Cattle

Ogun State Government has embarked on a large-scale vaccination program to immunize 420,000 cattle against anthrax within the next three months.

Dr. Taiwo Jolaoso, Director of Ogun State Veterinary Services, made the disclosure on Monday while giving updates on the ongoing vaccination exercise.

According to Jolaoso, “The state government plans to vaccinate over 420,000 cattle against anthrax.”

This proactive measure aims to safeguard animal health and prevent potential outbreaks.

The vaccination exercise is a joint effort between the state and federal governments.

Dr. Jolaoso emphasized that the program is preventive, stating, “It is not as if there is an outbreak of the disease in the state, rather the vaccination exercise is to prevent such an outbreak.”

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Mrs. Kehinde Jokotoye, urged herders to cooperate fully with veterinary officials.

Alhaji Usman Bello, Secretary of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, expressed gratitude to the state and federal governments for their commitment to livestock and herders’ wellbeing.

He pledged the association’s full cooperation, stating, “This exercise will positively impact our cattle and improve the general wellbeing of the people.”
