Katsina State has made significant strides in technological innovation by establishing a state-of-the-art Geographical Information Service Agency (KATGIS).
Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda has revealed that this agency is the most cost-effective in the entire country.
During a recent ceremony, Governor Radda emphasized that KATGIS is equipped with advanced technology, including QR-code certification, which surpasses the capabilities of even more established agencies like Abuja’s.
The agency’s infrastructure, comprising 100 desktop and laptop computers, high-precision scanners, printers, survey equipment, and office workstations, was procured for less than one billion naira.
This remarkable achievement is attributed to the strategic leadership of the State Commissioner for Land and Physical Planning, Dr. Faisal Umar Kaita. By leveraging local expertise and manpower, the state government was able to develop a highly effective system at a fraction of the cost compared to other states.
KATGIS offers a range of benefits, including faster and more efficient land administration processes. Landowners can now verify their Certificates of Occupancy (C of O) online, eliminating the need for physical visits to land offices.
This digital transformation streamlines procedures and enhances transparency.
By prioritizing innovation and cost-effectiveness, Katsina State is setting a new standard for public service delivery in Nigeria.
KATGIS serves as a testament to the state’s commitment to leveraging technology to improve the lives of its citizens.
