A gridlock erupted at the Kuje Junction in Abuja, on Thursday as the only road linking the area to the Highway (Yar Adua Expressway-Airport Road) was blocked for about 30, minutes leaving people stranded.
A security guard who prefers anonymity, said our Reporter the roadblock was caused by the Police in order to pave way for the President Tinubu’s convoy.
The roadblock has left hundreds of commuters, including students, Immigration officers, stranded, as they were denied passage.
A female student of the University of Abuja who prefers anonymity also, sought the help of an officer saying, “Please sir, I’m having exams now, can you help me out?”. The officer told her that he cannot.
Immigration officers’ vehicle was also denied passage by the Police. The denial of their passage caused quarrel between them and the police as they exchange hot words.
The situation has caused frustration among road users, who lamented the inconvenience caused by the Presidential visit.
The roadblock, which was mounted by police operatives, has prevented commuters from passing through the junction. The situation has also caused a backlog of traffic, with many vehicles stuck in the gridlock.
After about 30 minutes, the road was opened and people were allowed to pass.
