The Jigawa State Government has announced a significant initiative to bolster technical and vocational education in the state. Governor Umar Namadi revealed plans to establish a dedicated Institute of Technical and Vocational Education alongside eight technical colleges.
The Governor emphasized the state government’s commitment to transforming the education system, prioritizing technical and vocational education as a cornerstone for human capital development.
He stressed the importance of equipping the youth with practical skills to ensure their future success and contribute to the state’s economic growth.
To achieve this goal, the government will convert eight existing schools into centers of excellence, providing students with training in various skills and crafts.
The aim is to empower secondary school graduates with the ability to sustain themselves and actively participate in society.
Additionally, selected departments within polytechnics will be upgraded to align with the state’s vocational education goals.
The Jigawa State College of Remedial and Advanced Studies (JICORAS) will be repurposed into an institution for technical and vocational education, creating a seamless pathway for graduates to pursue further education or employment.
By implementing these measures, the Jigawa State Government aims to create a comprehensive system of technical and vocational education, fostering a skilled workforce and driving economic development.
