Borno Govt to Conduct Polio Vaccination Campaign

The Borno State Government has announced an upcoming Polio Vaccination Campaign, slated to take place from November 28th to December 3rd, 2024.

The campaign, known as the Fifth Outbreak Response (OBR5), will be implemented across all 27 Local Government Areas of the state.

Despite Borno State achieving polio-free certification on August 25, 2020, the risk of poliovirus transmission persists as long as the virus continues to circulate in other parts of the world.

To maintain its polio-free status, the state government remains committed to conducting high-quality Immunization Plus Days (IPDs) to prevent the spread of the virus and strengthen immunization services.

During the campaign period, vaccination teams will visit homes, schools, mosques, churches, IDP camps, motor parks, border communities, and other public places to immunize children under the age of five.

The state government urges all residents to cooperate with the vaccination teams and ensure that their children are vaccinated.

By participating in the polio vaccination campaign, Borno State aims to safeguard the health of its children and continue its progress towards a polio-free future.
