The Federal Ministry of Human and Poverty Reduction has unveiled an ambitious plan to lift 1.5 million Nigerians out of poverty each year.
This initiative is part of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Minister Nentawe Yilwatda, represented by Federal Director of Social Welfare Peter Adanu-Audu, emphasized the need for collaboration and innovation to achieve this goal.
The ministry aims to address challenges hindering social development programs and improve the delivery of social services to vulnerable groups.
Kano State, represented by Secretary to the State Government Dr. Abdullahi Baffa, highlighted its efforts in promoting social welfare, including empowering women, persons with disabilities, and youth.
The state government has implemented various programs to provide financial assistance and vocational training to vulnerable populations.
The conference brought together 36 directors of social welfare from across the country to discuss strategies for improving social welfare services and addressing poverty.
Participants were encouraged to share best practices and develop innovative solutions to meet the needs of the population.
By prioritizing gender-responsive programs, addressing domestic violence, and ensuring access to education and economic opportunities, the government aims to create a more equitable and prosperous society for all Nigerians.
