Dangote Reduces Petrol Price by ₦20

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a reduction in the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, to ₦970 per litre for oil marketers.

This decision, revealed by the company’s Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Anthony Chiejina, in a statement on Sunday, said is aimed at showing appreciation to Nigerians for their support in bringing the refinery to fruition.

The new ex-depot price marks a ₦20 reduction from the previously announced ₦990 price earlier this month.

According to Chiejina, the move is not only a gesture of gratitude to the Nigerian public but also a way to thank the government for its backing of the refinery’s operations.

“In addition, this is to thank the government for their support as this will complement the measures put in place to encourage domestic enterprise for our collective well-being,” the statement read.

The company assured the public that it would maintain the high quality of its products, stating that the petrol provided would be environmentally friendly and sustainable. “While the refinery would not compromise on the quality of its petroleum products, we assure you of best quality products that are environmentally friendly and sustainable,” the statement continued.

It also reaffirmed its commitment to ramping up production to meet and surpass Nigeria’s domestic fuel consumption, addressing concerns over potential fuel shortages.

The price reduction is expected to save marketers about ₦20 per litre, further supporting the domestic market.
