Anambra Govt Moves to Promote Indigenous Medicine

A bill seeking to establish the Anambra State Indigenous Medicine and Traditional Practices Agency has successfully scaled second reading at the Anambra State House of Assembly.

The bill, sponsored by Ikenna Ofodeme, Majority Leader of the House and member representing Ekwusigo Constituency, aims to promote traditional practices while ensuring they adhere to safety and ethical standards.

According to Ofodeme, the bill addresses the growing recognition of indigenous medicine as a critical component of healthcare.

The proposed agency will play a crucial role in promoting and regulating traditional medicine practices in the state.

Lawmakers, including Barrister Obi Nweke, Honourable Golden Iloh, and Chief Tony Muobike, expressed their support for the bill, emphasizing its potential to enhance security in the state.

The Speaker of the House, Right Honourable Somtochukwu Udeze, read the bill for the second time, receiving unanimous support from the lawmakers.
