A tragic incident unfolded in the Dogon Duste community, situated between Nasarawa and Toto Local Government Areas, leading to the loss of three lives.
According to the Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, Umar Nadada, a violent clash erupted between farmers and herders on Monday, around 4:30 PM.
The ensuing confrontation resulted in the deaths of two individuals on a farm, while four others sustained injuries and were promptly transported to a local healthcare facility for medical attention.
Subsequent search operations conducted by the police led to the discovery of an additional body in the bush, bringing the total number of fatalities to three.
Despite the tragic incident, Commissioner Nadada assured the public that the situation has been brought under control and that calm has been restored to the affected area.
He emphasized the police command’s unwavering commitment to a thorough investigation into the matter, with the aim of apprehending those responsible and bringing them to justice.
To further strengthen security measures and prevent future occurrences, the commissioner urged residents to maintain a strong partnership with law enforcement agencies.
He highlighted the importance of community involvement in tackling security challenges, emphasizing that the protection of lives and property is a shared responsibility.
Commissioner Nadada expressed satisfaction with the progress made by the command in addressing security concerns within the state.
