In a historic event, Kano State witnessed a unique takeover as children assumed control of the State House of Assembly for 90 minutes on World Children’s Day.
This symbolic session was presided over by 15-year-old Muhammed Isah, who took on the role of Speaker, leading a Children’s Assembly comprising representatives from schools across the state.
During the plenary on Wednesday, these young legislators voiced their concerns about the need for enhanced security in schools.

To further highlight the significance of World Children’s Day, the children also paid a visit to the 16th Emir of Kano, Mallam Mohammed Sanusi.
They engaged in discussions with the Emir about pressing issues affecting their lives and communities.
In response to the children’s concerns, Emir Sanusi expressed his commitment to supporting initiatives that promote children’s welfare.
He urged stakeholders in Kano to join forces and work together to address these critical issues.
