The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, also known as So-Safe Corps, has arrested two suspects, 18-year-old Abdullahi Idowu, an ex-convict, and 17-year-old Samson Ojo, for stealing generator engine parts in the Idiroko border area of Ipokia Local Government.
The duo was apprehended during a joint routine patrol by the Special Squad and the Idiroko Divisional Team of the corps on November 17, 2024, around 10:30 p.m.
According to Soji Ganzallo, the corps commander, the suspects were found with two bags containing the stolen generator engine parts.
Further investigation revealed that Idowu had previously served a jail term in the Benin Republic.
During interrogation, he confessed to stealing the generator parts and also admitted to stealing a large battery the previous Friday, which he sold to a scrap dealer.
The suspects were taken to the scene of the theft, where it was confirmed that the stolen generator parts belonged to a customs office.
Additional parts of the generator were discovered in a nearby bush. Ganzallo stated that the suspects, along with the recovered items, have been transferred to the Nigeria Customs Service, Ogun Area 1 Command, Idiroko, for further investigation.
The swift action by the So-Safe Corps demonstrates their commitment to maintaining law and order in Ogun State.
