The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has reassured Ondo State residents of the Armed Forces of Nigeria’s (AFN) readiness to ensure a smooth and fair gubernatorial election on November 16, 2024.

General Musa made the commitment during a courtesy visit to Ondo State Governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyadatiwa, on November 14, 2024.
General Musa commended the Governor for his warm reception and emphasized the AFN’s commitment to supporting the election.
He also addressed troops, emphasizing their responsibilities in maintaining peace and order during the elections.
The governor expressed gratitude to the 32 Artillery Brigade for their collaboration with the government in securing the state, noting a significant reduction in crime rates.
While addressing commanders on the ground, General Musa applauded their efforts in keeping peace in Ondo State and encouraged them to do more.
He stressed that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is the lead agency in the election, and all other agencies will play a supportive role.
The CDS emphasized the importance of fairness, respect, and restraint, stating, “Election should not be a war. We must be fair to all. Nobody should be partial.”
Musa also directed security agencies to report any instances of “Cash for Vote” to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
He charged troops to prioritize citizens’ safety, exercising their constitutional right to vote.
