Nigeria Meets EU Delegation to Strengthen Youth/Governance Engagement

In a pivotal move for youth empowerment, Nigeria’s Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, engaged in a high-level meeting with the European Union’s Ambassador-Designate on Tuesday, focusing on collaborative strategies to enhance youth participation in governance and decision-making.

During the meeting, which was announced on the Ministry’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Wednesday, Olawande emphasized the importance of updating Nigeria’s National Youth Policy to align with young Nigerians’ current needs and ambitions. “We need a policy framework that genuinely addresses the needs and aspirations of our young people, giving them a voice and role in shaping our nation,” he stated.

The EU delegation expressed its strong commitment to supporting Nigeria’s youth agenda, with the Ambassador-Designate pledging to back initiatives that encourage sustainable youth involvement and provide economic opportunities.

“The EU will continue to support initiatives fostering sustainable youth engagement and economic opportunities,” the Ambassador affirmed, underscoring the EU’s dedication to empowering Nigeria’s younger generation.
