ICPC Urges Active Role from Women, Youth, Against Corruption

The Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, has called on women and youth to take a more active role in combating corruption and other social vices in Nigeria.

Speaking at a one-day workshop for women and youth on corruption prevention held in Abuja on Thursday, Dr. Aliyu emphasized that women and youth are disproportionately affected by corruption and therefore must be at the forefront of the fight against it.

In a statement signed by the Acting  Director of Public Enlightenment and Education,ICPC, Demola Bakare,  Aliyu, noted that “This Workshop is not just an event; it is a crucial platform that aims to highlight the pivotal roles that women and youth play in the fight against corruption.”

Aliyu added that the ICPC is committed to leveraging technology for mobilization, building inclusive coalitions, and empowering marginalized voices to foster a more just and equitable society.

The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, emphasized that corruption disproportionately affects women, children, and marginalized communities.

She called on women and youth to take an active role in combating corruption, saying “we must move beyond the desire to have our voices heard and step into roles where our actions can make a difference.”

Senator Tinubu also commended the ICPC for its efforts in fostering collaborations with other anti-corruption agencies, civil society, and the private sector.
