In a bid to reinforce bilateral cooperation on security and public service delivery, Nigeria’s Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, met with United Kingdom Home Secretary, Yvette Cooper.
The meeting, held on Friday, was attended by key officials including the Comptroller General of Immigration and Controller General of Fire Service.
Tunji-Ojo, sharing the news via his X handle, emphasised the importance of this strategic partnership, stating, “The meeting focused on mutual goals of strengthening security, efficiency, and service delivery, demonstrating Nigeria’s commitment to sustainable development through cooperation.”
The Minister also highlighted a visit to the Nigeria High Commission, underscoring continued support for Nigerian consulate services abroad. “This visit reaffirms our support for the attachés working to improve our services to Nigerians abroad,” Tunji-Ojo noted.
He further discussed plans to extend contactless biometric solutions to the UK, a program previously launched in Canada with positive results.
Dr. Magdalene Ajani, Permanent Secretary, also participated in the delegation, marking the visit as a key moment in deepening the ties between the two nations.
