The tragic discovery was made on Tuesday, when the lifeless body of the innocent child was found abandoned beside a mosque on Deneva Street.
Medical reports confirmed that the young girl had suffered severe injuries as a result of sexual assault, leading to her untimely demise.
The Bauchi State Police Commissioner CP Auwal Musa Mohammed, has launched an immediate investigation into the heinous crime.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, assured the public that detectives are diligently working to apprehend the perpetrators.
Commissioner Mohammed expressed deep sorrow over the incident and urged parents and guardians to take extra precautions to ensure the safety of their children.
He emphasized the importance of closely monitoring children’s whereabouts and avoiding leaving them unattended.
