Two people have been confirmed dead after a violent confrontation between a soldier and a police officer in Agyaragu Community, Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

The altercation, which began as a personal dispute, escalated into widespread violence, resulting in the destruction of two police stations in the area.

According to the Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, the incident unfolded when a soldier, who was on leave, engaged in a heated argument with a Police Special Constabulary officer.

The altercation quickly turned physical, with both men reportedly stabbing each other. Tragically, the soldier succumbed to his injuries during the confrontation.

In the aftermath of the incident, youth from the soldier’s home community allegedly mobilized and retaliated by attacking the police stations, setting them on fire and causing significant damage.
