The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Wednesday urged students to actively foster a culture of integrity and caution, both online and offline.
The EFCC has reiterated its mission to inspire young Nigerians to lead by example in the fight against corruption at an event.
In an official statement released by the EFCC’s Head of Media & Publicity, Dele Oyewale, on the Commission’s X (formerly Twitter) handle, a key representative, Olalekan, emphasized the importance of cyber awareness.
He advised students to exercise vigilance when interacting online. “Before opening or replying to a message, ensure that what you say is accurate and that the request is safe before connecting with the person,” he stated, underscoring the increasing need for online safety.
Aisha Mohammed, Head of the EFCC’s Enlightenment and Re-orientation Unit of ACE2, also addressed the students, calling on them to carry the anti-corruption message beyond the event. She encouraged them to become “foot-soldiers of the Commission” and share its values with their families and communities. “We want you to take this message from the Chairman back to your homes… Stand for integrity. Integrity is doing the right thing, even when no one is watching. Be a person of integrity; we want you to be Ambassadors of the EFCC,” Mohammed urged.
The EFCC’s outreach to Nigerian students reflects a broader effort to reshape societal values and build a generation of ethical, responsible leaders.
