Nigeria has postponed its vaccination campaign due to a significant surge in Mpox cases across Africa.

According to the latest data released by the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), cases have increased by a staggering 500% compared to the previous year.

Ngashi Ngongo of the Africa CDC confirmed that the situation remains volatile, with cases continuing to rise.

Mauritius recently became the 19th African country affected by the outbreak.

Health officials in Nigeria are closely monitoring the situation and are taking precautionary measures to prevent the further spread of the virus.

The postponement of the vaccination campaign is a temporary measure aimed at prioritizing the containment of Mpox.

As the situation evolves, health authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and adhere to public health guidelines, including practicing good hygiene, avoiding close contact with infected individuals, and seeking medical attention if they experience any symptoms of Mpox.
