In a decisive step to ensure food safety, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has shut down a warehouse in Abuja’s Wuse Zone 4, filled with expired and unregistered food items worth about 87.5 million naira. The discovery highlights the agency’s commitment to combating the distribution of unsafe food products, particularly with the festive season approaching.
The agency announced on its official X handle Friday that it seized a variety of expired items, including popular brands like Cornitos, Crusties Nacho, Chaunky Mango, Mother’s Recipe, and others, as part of the operation. Both the warehouse and an additional site were promptly closed to enable further investigation.
NAFDAC has urged consumers to play an active role in safeguarding public health. “We encourage all Nigerians to remain vigilant and report any suspicious food products to the nearest NAFDAC office,”
