Nigerian Army, Police Reinforce Partnership to Enhance Security in Lagos, Ogun

The Nigerian Army and Nigeria Police Force have reaffirmed their commitment to collaborative efforts in tackling security challenges in Lagos and Ogun states. Lieutenant Colonel Olabisi Olalekan Ayen, Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations

81 Division NA, made this known in a press statement on Wednesday.

This renewed partnership was solidified during a courtesy visit by Assistant Inspector General of Police Adegoke Mustapha Fayoade to General Officer Commanding 81 Division NA, Major General Farouk Mijinyawa, on October 29, 2024 ¹.

Major General Mijinyawa emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and security in these economically vital states, acknowledging the crucial role of the Nigeria Police Force in internal security operations.

He assured AIG Fayoade of the Nigerian Army’s continued support. This partnership is critical in addressing the current security challenges in Nigeria, which have become a defining characteristic of the Nigerian state since its return to democratic rule in 1999.

AIG Fayoade described his visit as an effort to sustain the existing synergy between the two organizations. He highlighted the national significance of the Army-Police collaboration and pledged the full cooperation of the Police in ensuring citizens’ safety and security in Lagos and Ogun states.

The visit concluded with a symbolic exchange of souvenirs, signifying the existing synergy between the two forces. This reinforced partnership aims to enhance community policing strategies, crucial in curbing insecurity in Nigeria.
