Blackout: Katsina Businessman Vows to Sue FG, TCN

Imrana Jino, a businessman in Kano, has announced plans to sue the Federal Government and the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) in response to the ongoing national grid failures that have plunged Northern Nigeria into darkness.

During a press briefing in Katsina, Jino expressed outrage over the persistent power outages, which he claims have severely impacted local businesses and caused significant financial losses for residents. “The total blackout has forced the closure of many small businesses and sent hundreds of young men into the labor market,” he stated.

Jino emphasized that the blackouts are not merely technical failures but a systemic issue designed to undermine the northern economy and exacerbate hardships for its citizens. “We will hold the federal government and TCN responsible for this failure and fight for payment of compensation to those affected by the total blackout,” he asserted.

He called upon those impacted by the power crisis to share their experiences via his social media platform, noting that volunteers would soon be deployed to assist victims in gathering information. Jino plans to compile this data as evidence for their legal case.

As frustration grows among Northern Nigerians over the electricity crisis, Jino’s bold stance signals a potential legal battle that could hold authorities accountable for the disruptions affecting everyday life and economic stability in the region.
