TCN Restores Power to Northern Seven States

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a significant development in its efforts to restore power to the northern region of the country.

Following a nine-day blackout caused by the vandalisation of the Shiroro-Kaduna transmission line, power has been partially restored to seven states.

As of 4:56 pm on Wednesday, the electricity supply has been re-established in Lafia, Makurdi, Jos, Kaduna, Kano, Bauchi, and Gombe States.

The restoration was made possible by the successful repair of the 330kV Ugwuaji-Apir transmission line

TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, confirmed the development in a statement.

The power outage, which began on October 22, affected a large portion of the Northeast, Northwest, and parts of the North Central regions.

The vandalisation of the transmission line posed significant challenges to the TCN engineers tasked with repairing the damage.

President Bola Tinubu was compelled to intervene, directing full security assistance to enable the engineers to carry out their work safely.

While this partial restoration marks a positive step, TCN is continuing its efforts to fully address the issue and ensure a stable power supply to the affected regions.
