The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the death of a hunter, identified as Femi, whose body was discovered with bullet wounds in a forest in Ijebu Igbo.

According to Police Spokesperson Omolola Odutola, Femi, a resident of Ofemodoko village, had gone hunting with Taoreed (aka Kokoro) on Friday but failed to return home.

The police spokesperson said, “On 26/10/2024, one Grace James, a female from Ofemodoko village near Ijebu Igbo reported to the station that on 25/10/2024 at about 1700 hours, her husband, Femi, now deceased, went hunting with an individual known as Taoreed aka Kokoro, but failed to return to their village.

”About 0700 hours on 26/10/2024, his disappearance was brought to the attention of the village head who then organised a search with local hunters. During the search, the body of Femi was found in the forest showing bullet wounds on his back with his gun lying on the ground next to him.”

Femi’s wife, Grace James, reported his disappearance to the police station on October 26, 2024, after he failed to return home. The village head organized a search party, which found Femi’s body in the forest with bullet wounds on his back and his gun nearby.

The police have commenced a preliminary investigation into the matter. Notably, Taoreed, who accompanied Femi on the hunting trip, has fled the village with his wife and children. This sudden departure has raised suspicions and is being investigated.

The corpse has been taken to the State Hospital in Ijebu-Ode for autopsy. The police are working to unravel the circumstances surrounding Femi’s tragic death.
