Three top Kaduna State government officials have been suspended by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) following allegations of false asset declaration.

The affected officials are Samuel Peter, Acting Commissioner for Internal Security; Shizzer Bada, Commissioner for Finance; and Tijjani Abdullahi, Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board.

The suspension, which was ordered on October 22, 2024, is pending the determination of charges filed against the officials by the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).

Veronica Kato, a spokesperson for the CCB, revealed that the Bureau initiated the legal action after receiving a petition alleging various infractions of the Code of Conduct for public officers by several senior Kaduna State government officials.

“Following a thorough investigation, the CCB filed a motion before the CCT, leading to the suspension of the three officials,” Kato explained.

The trio is scheduled to be arraigned in court on Thursday, November 7, 2024, to face the charges brought against them.

The CCT’s order has directed the Governor of Kaduna State and the Secretary to the State Government to appoint suitable individuals to fill the vacant positions held by the suspended officials.
