A staggering two million Nigerian children remain unvaccinated, according to the UNICEF Field Office in Kano.

This alarming figure, referred to as “zero-dose” children, underscores the urgent need for increased immunization efforts across the country.

The northern region, particularly Kano, Katsina, and Jigawa states, is a major concern, accounting for a significant portion of the unvaccinated children.

Kano State alone has 280,281 zero-dose children.

To address this crisis, UNICEF has launched a new initiative, “No More Zero Dose,” featuring a song by prominent artists like Cobhams, WAJE, and Timi Dakolo.

The campaign aims to raise awareness about the importance of immunization and dispel misinformation.

Rahama Mohammed, Chief of UNICEF Field Office in Kano, emphasized the critical role of state governments in strengthening healthcare infrastructure and expanding access to essential health services. He urged the public to support the initiative and share the song widely.

By prioritizing immunization, Nigeria can protect its children from preventable diseases and build a healthier future.
