In a strategic move to streamline governance and boost efficiency, President Bola Tinubu has approved a significant reshuffling of his cabinet, leading to the dissolution of two ministries and the consolidation of others.
This decision, made during a Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Wednesday, aims to create a more cohesive government structure. The Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs and the Ministry of Sports Development have been dissolved, with their functions absorbed by other agencies.
According to a statement by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, the newly formed Ministry of Regional Development will now oversee all regional development commissions, including the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). Additionally, the National Sports Commission will take over the roles of the former Ministry of Sports.
“These changes are designed to enhance operational efficiency and foster better coordination between government agencies,” Onanuga said.
Moreover, the Ministry of Tourism has merged with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy, further emphasizing the administration’s focus on cultural and economic synergy.
