Mpox: Nigeria Reports 8 New Cases Amid Ongoing Surveillance

Nigeria has confirmed eight new Mpox cases in one week, according to a report released by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Monday.

The report for week 41, covering October 7 to 13, revealed that the new infections were identified across various states, including two cases each in Plateau and Bauchi, and one case each in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abia, and Delta.

Since the beginning of this year’s outbreak, Nigeria has reported a total of 1,339 suspected cases and 102 confirmed cases, with 26 states and the FCT recording at least one confirmed case across 67 Local Government Areas (LGAs).

The disease has spread extensively across the country, with 36 states and the FCT reporting suspected cases, indicating widespread distribution.

The NCDC emphasised its commitment to managing the Mpox outbreak through its National Mpox multi-sectoral Emergency Operation Center. “We are actively coordinating efforts to respond to this outbreak,” the agency stated on its website. Notably, there have been no reported deaths related to the outbreak.

  1. Blue Techker naturally like your web site however you need to take a look at the spelling on several of your posts. A number of them are rife with spelling problems and I find it very bothersome to tell the truth on the other hand I will surely come again again.
