FG, Bauchi Sign MoU to Upgrade General Hospital Misau to FMC

The Federal Ministry of Health has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bauchi State Government for the official takeover and upgrade of General Hospital Misau into the Federal Medical Center Misau.

The development was announced in a statement released on Tuesday via the ministry’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle. The agreement was finalized during the Ministry’s Leadership Retreat, with Bauchi State pledging to continue paying staff salaries for the next six months to ensure a smooth transition.

“These MoUs are crucial in formalizing health sector partnerships between federal and state governments, ensuring that state hospitals receive the necessary support and resources to deliver quality healthcare,” the Ministry stated.

Additionally, the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare has onboarded Bauchi State’s Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance System (SEMSAS) under the National Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance System (NEMSAS). SEMSAS will be equipped with ambulances offering basic life support to improve emergency medical response.

“SEMSAS is set to provide rapid response to medical emergencies like trauma and accidents, reducing mortality rates through timely, quality pre-hospital care,” the Ministry noted.
