Disel Prices Climb by 59.28 %

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has reported a significant increase in the average retail price of Automotive Gas Oil (diesel) in September 2024.

As stated in the report released on its official X account on Tuesday, diesel prices experienced a 59.28% increase year-over-year, climbing from N890.80 per liter in September 2023 to N1418.83 per liter in September 2024.

In addition, the report highlighted a slight month-on-month increase of 0.91%, with prices climbing from N1406.05 in August 2024 to N1418.83 in September 2024.

A state-by-state analysis showed that Bauchi State had the highest average diesel price at N2061.67 per liter, followed by Gombe State at N1615.00 and Akwa Ibom State at N1592.86. The lowest prices were recorded in Ekiti State (N1241.46), Abuja (N1262.25), and Oyo State (N1276.47).

Regionally, the North East had the highest average price at N1581.97, while the South West reported the lowest average at N1333.06.
