Irate Mob Lynches Suspected Thief in Ogun, Injures Another

Sagamu, Ogun State – An angry mob has killed a suspected motorcycle thief, John Udoh, in the Ajaka area of Oke Igbo community, Sagamu Local Government Area, while another suspect, Peter Ubong, was critically injured.

According to the Ogun State Police Command, the suspects were part of a five-man gang that invaded the community around 2:00 am on October 18, 2024, and stole a motorcycle valued at N1.2 million belonging to Emeka Ruben.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed that Ruben alerted the community youths, who then challenged and arrested the two suspects. The suspects were severely beaten, resulting in Udoh’s death, while Ubong was hospitalized.

“The two suspects were said to have been given severe beating leading to the death of one of them as confirmed by a doctor at Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu while the second suspect Peter Ubong who was said to be in critical condition, has been hospitalised,” the PPRO said.

“Three other members of the gang, Adaka, Stephen, and Jersey were said to have made away with the stolen motorcycle,” she said.

Investigations revealed that the duo confessed to being part of a group responsible for stealing 15 solar street lights and two other motorcycles in the community.

They also provided the names of their accomplices.

The police are currently investigating the incident and working to track down the remaining suspects and recover the stolen motorcycle.
