Kano on High Alert as Fears Heighten over Fleeing Bandits from Zamfara, Katsina

Kano State is on high alert following intelligence reports indicating an influx of bandits from neighboring Zamfara and Katsina States.

This was contained in a report signed by an assistant superintendent police attached to the State Intelligence Department (SID) in Zamfara state governor’s office, Bashir Makama.

According to the report, bandits are fleeing the ongoing military crackdown in their home states and seeking refuge in Kano.

The report, shared among security agencies in Kano, warns that these bandits may pose a significant threat to the state’s security.

The recent military offensives against bandits in Zamfara and Sokoto have led to the killing of several prominent bandit leaders, including Halilu Sububu, considered the main bandit leader in northwestern Nigeria.

As a result, many bandits and their associates are seeking safe havens elsewhere.

Intelligence suggests that these bandits are moving to Kano and purchasing properties to use as “escape routes” for themselves and their families.

The report highlights the urgent need for increased security measures to prevent these individuals from establishing a foothold in the state.

Kano State authorities have taken note of the intelligence and are working closely with security agencies to monitor the situation and implement necessary measures to protect the state’s citizens.

The influx of bandits poses a serious threat to the peace and security of Kano, and the state government is committed to taking all necessary steps to prevent any attacks or disturbances.
