President Bola Tinubu is embarking on a two-week annual leave to the United Kingdom today, October 2, 2024. The break, according to a statement is part of his yearly leave, and he plans to use the time as a working vacation and retreat to reflect on his administration’s economic reforms.
In the statement, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Wednesday, said President Tinubu will return to the country after his leave expires.
The president’s decision to take a break provides an opportunity for him to recharge and reassess his economic strategies, ensuring his administration remains on track.
Meanwhile, it has been rife that lobbyists for cabinet appointments are mounting intense pressure on the president. There is anxiety among the serving cabinet members as some of them are pencilled down for replacement. Some pollical observers said the shake-up of Tinubu’s ministers is overdue. In the anticipated cabinet change about 11 ministers may not be reappointed by the President.
This time may also allow him to maintain contact with his team while still taking time for personal reflection. Some political analysts believe this leave may be the perfect chance for President Tinubu to implement his much-anticipated cabinet reshuffle, which has been in the works for over a month.
Rumours of a cabinet reshuffle have been circulating, with some sections of the press reporting that President Tinubu has already hinted at his plans to reshuffle his cabinet.

During a Federal Executive Council meeting, President Tinubu directed ministers to engage more with the public on his administration’s achievements.

“He will return to the country after the leave expires.”
