The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) has advised Nigerians residing in Lebanon to leave the country due to increasing violence, particularly in areas impacted by Israeli strikes on Hezbollah and other regions.
In a statement released on Wednesday by NIDCOM’s Director of Media, Public Relations, and Protocols, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, and posted on the commission’s official X handle, the agency urged Nigerians to take advantage of available commercial flights before the situation deteriorates.
“Although most Nigerians have relocated from the southern part of the country and are relatively safe, we advise them to stay vigilant until a ceasefire is in place,” the statement read.
NIDCOM assured that no Nigerian has been harmed in the conflict so far and urged citizens to maintain contact with the Nigerian Embassy in Lebanon for any necessary assistance.
“The welfare and safety of Nigerians in Lebanon remain of utmost concern to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Balogun added.
